Coinciding with the Melbourne Food and Wine festival in March, Touché Hombre showed Melbourne what true Mexican street food is all about, bringing out culinary heavyweight Richard Ampudia to host a series of events for the restaurant.
Davis Yu, owner of Touché Hombre met New York based Ampudia in Hong Kong and wanted to bring him out to experience Melbourne for the first time, whilst educating Melburnian’s on genuine Mexican cuisine.
Kicking off with an exclusive media dinner at Touché Hombre, Ampudia presented numerous mouth-watering courses featured in his restaurants from around the world including New York Mexican eateries L’Esquina, Super Linda, Bar Bruno and London’s La Bodega Negra.
Dishes featured Bar Bruno’s mussels with chipotle, coriander and chorizo, DIY Grilled rib eye tacos with haloumi, cactus and bullfighter chilli, as well as the covetable Pork Belly Taco served with crackling and pineapple habanero salsa, leaving everyone licking their fingers for more.
Following two sold-out dinners at Touché Hombre, Richard’s food and Mexican heritage was well and truly celebrated at the Touché Hombre Rooftop Mexican Party on Friday night. With queues around the block eager to try Ampudia’s famous dishes, guests enjoyed all the party had to offer including the best margaritas, live music, break dancers and Mexican horror films whilst taking in Melbourne’s night skyline.
