STREAT’s fabulous cookbook and new café at Melbourne Central was officially launched on Monday May 6th by Melbourne’s Lord Mayor Robert Doyle who was STREAT’s 30,000th customer back in January, 2011.
Due to a Pozible crowd-funding campaign and a very generous $40,000 donation from Melbourne Central’s owners, The GPT Group, Melbourne Central’s STREAT coffee cart has been transformed into a café.
The new café will help STREAT provide many more hours of work experience, life skills and hospitality training to homeless youth in Melbourne.
Created by STREAT’s head chef Rob Auger, the cookbook is their first ever and is filled with delicious recipes from all over the world, whilst exploring the STREAT trainees favourite tastes and dishes. Featuring beautiful photography and artwork, and a foreword and recipe from celebrity chef Poh Ling Yeow of ABC’s Poh’s Kitchen, the STREAT cookbook is yet another way in which to take part in STREAT’s crusade.
Visit the new look STREAT café at Melbourne Central in Melbourne’s CBD, purchase a cookbook or visit www.streat.com.au and you can help turn a young person’s life around.
