Not-for-profit organisation YGAP launches the 5cent campaign in 2014 for the third consecutive year and we are delighted to be involved.

The 5cent campaign runs for the month of May and asks everyday Australians to collect five-cent pieces to raise much needed funds for communities disadvantaged by poverty.

Last year’s campaign collected over three million five-cent pieces equating to more than $180,000 to support YGAP’s projects in Cambodia and Rwanda as well as SecondBite’s FoodMate program, locally.

YGAP held an intimate media launch at Feast of Merit to kick-off the campaign, attended by campaign ambassadors Nick Riewoldt, Matt Stone, Brigitte Duclos and Anthony Lehmann as well as supporters of the 5cent initiative, media and special guests. The event saw YGAP CEO and Founder Elliot Costello announce the ambassadors for 2014 as the above as well as Scherri-Lee Biggs, Kate Peck and Ted Richards and thank supporters for their ongoing enthusiasm and dedication to the campaign. Guests also heard from SecondBite CEO Elaine Montegriffo on the impact donated five-cent pieces has to the FoodMate program and Australians disadvantaged by food insecurity.
