Off the Runway: My 6 Favourite Streetstyle Trends Spotted at Fashion Weeks Around the World This Year

By Sophie Gautheron

From Paris to Milan, New York, and more, these are the 6 Fashion Week Streetstyle Trends that I can’t stop thinking about.

High Low Skirts

2025 is the year of cyclical trends, and high low skirts are no exception. Embraced by the likes of Chloé, Yves Saint Laurent and Vivienne Westwood, the new wardrobe staple has quietly worked its way back into the fashion scene.

Despite its sporadic reappearance on the runway, the true catalyst for skyrocketing the circa 2010 trend back into my shopping cart, is Lila Moss’ iconic YSL Paris Men’s Fashion Week look. Sporting a high-low that amalgamates the perfect micro mini, with the elegance of a flowing summer skirt, her street style look has secured the trend a spot on my pay day wishlist.

Oversized Sleeves

This statement sleeve is staking its claim in the wardrobes of the best-dressed at Fashion Weeks across the globe. But unlike the exaggerated puff sleeves of the ’80s, today’s oversized iterations are seamlessly integrated into the likes of tailored trench coats and trendy bombers. It’s safe to say this is one trend I’ve wholeheartedly embraced, and there’s no looking back.

Boho Chic

If your algorithm’s anything like mine, you’ve caught wave of the effortlessly styled Isabel Marant looks, quietly rebranding boho chic as 2025’s ultimate cool girl chic aesthetic. From crisp white linen miniskirts to breezy, embellished blouses, this new wave of boho chic is a far cry from the flower crown trend of 2012. Now paired with knee-high leather boots, the look feels effortless yet elevated, set to define spring/summer style when Australia finally warms up.

Sheer Clothing

Translucency is having a major moment, with fashion week attendees taking a leaf out of Kate Moss’ book and embracing all types of sheer this year. From flowing dresses to skirts and off-the-shoulder tops, the Australian fashion scene has fully embraced the look. Labels like Zimmermann, St. Agni, SIR, and more have had their own takes on sheer silhouettes, making it clear that the barely there trend is here to stay.

Funnel Neck Trench Coats

Trench coats certainly aren’t new to the Fashion Week scene and have long been the go-to accessory to complement any winter street style look. But a new wave of styling is coming, with the days of effortlessly throwing a trench over the top of your perfectly curated outfit replaced with high collar silhouettes. Funnel Neck Trench Coats are now paired back with slim line sunglasses, a slick back bun and leather boots, to become THE ultimate outfit, and I am so here for it!

Sequins

I’m sure 10-year me would be ecstatic to discover that you can in-fact wear sequins as an adult. No longer reserved just for concerts and extravagant parties, sequins have found their way into everyday fashion, dressed down with white t-shirts, jeans or sneakers. Fashion Weeks around the world have warmly embraced the mermaid-esque trend with sequined skirts, shirts, bags and everything in between making a regular appearance in streetstyle. And with that, I think it’s time I retire my go-to jeans (just for a moment) in favour of a sequined midi skirt.
