The 30th St Kilda Film Festival came to a close on Saturday, 1 June, 2013 with the Closing Night Awards hosted by Brian Nankervis at the St Kilda Town Hall.

The Australian film Joey (pictured above) was announced as the winner of the Best Short Film with Director John Evagora and Producer Polly Staniford taking home a $10,000 cash prize, presented by City of Port Phillip.

John Evagora was also awarded Best Director for the film and the post-production team; Pablo Labanino and Daniel Agdag won Best Editing for their work. Melbourne actor Steve Mouzakis, who starred as Joey, added to the film’s growing list of awards by securing Best Actor for his role.

The evening saw a total of nineteen prestigious awards with the full list of winners available via the Festival website now.

Darcy Prendergast from ‘Oh Yeah Wow’ also took out three of the four awards at SoundKILDA, the Festival’s Music Video Competition held on Thursday, 30 May at The Astor Theatre.

AMPR is thrilled to have worked with the St Kilda Film Festival on its thirtieth anniversary program, which included Australia’s Top 100 films, a SXSW Showcase, SoundKILDA, filmmaker development programs and special retrospective screenings.

Our most memorable films included Julian and Ruby from Opening Night, The Man Who Could Not Dream from Session Two and Easy Come, Easy Go from the screening of the same name.

We would like to offer our congratulations to the award winners, participants, City of Port Phillip and St Kilda Film Festival team on an exceptional Festival!
